citizen involvement

While you are praying for bills this session, take some time out to see if you should be on a local appointive board or commission. A lot of policy is determined at this level.

LT. GOVERNOR
Marty McClendon – pro-life conservative
SECRETARY OF STATE
Kim Wyman another lesser of 2 evils

Duane Davidson – other candidate more liberal by a tad, this one is against an income tax, other one wants to consider it Other one also took money from Planned Parenthood.

August 2 Primary Mary's Pics

2016 AUGUST PRIMARY MARY’S PICS
FEDERAL
SENATE
Scott Nazarino is endorsed by Don Benton, who I respect. Chris Vance was terrible as State R Chair, establishment all the way and says he will not vote for Trump .  That makes him for Hilary for all practical purposes.

CONGRESS 3 Jaime Herrera Beutler
CONGRESS 10 Jim Postama – another weak candidate, I think he runs anytime they need someone to make the D’s spend money.

STATEWIDE
GOVERNOR  Bill Bryant
LT. GOVERNOR Marty McClendon is fun and conservative. – Yin is establishment/Mainstream, Figueroa less so Rossi/McKenna. McClendon probably doesn’t have a chance. Personally gong to vote for his anyway. The Lt. Governor’s main job is keeping order in the Senate not voting on legislation or enforcing it.
SECRETARY OF STATE Kim Wyman – only R, not a favorite, but better than the alternative
TREASURER  Duane Davidson – less establishment
AUDITOR Mike Milosia – pro-life was a D and left
ATTORNEY GENERAL – voting for Trumbull, he has no money but not Ferguson – Arlene’s Flowers Why didn’t someone run against him
COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC LANDS – Steve McLaughlin – the only candidate that will let us keep ours
SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION – Ron Higgins per Research Mom/Sharon Hanek
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER – Richard Schrock – Murta pro-choice – don’t trust him on forced abortion coverage.
SUPREME COURT 5 – Greg Zempel

IMPORTANT

I am pasting a message from Facebook from Representative J.T. Wilcox, 2nd District. It is the reason we need to pray. I cover the bills as introduced. Any can be amended to change he original intent. In fact, the whole original bill can be stripped and  new one put in under the same name as an amendment.  2610

"I witnessed the most remarkable display of casual arrogance today of the 5+ years I have spent in the State House. With 1 days notice and NO public input, Rep. Sam Hunt offered an amendment that would change the form of Thurston County government by adding 2 new commissioners. This is clearly motivated by fear that his party is losing their long-term grip on the Thurston County Commission. 49 members of his party thoughtlessly followed along, with no consideration of the fundamental violation of American's right of self-government that this enabled. I objected strenuously, in the most passionate speeches I've ever given. Although some republicans agreed with the original bill that had public input and involved Spokane County, all followed me in opposing the amended bill. In the moment of highest drama this year, the Speaker was forced to hold open the vote while Democratic caucus leaders whipped votes to get to 50. Clearly, by the time I and other Republicans had reacted with outrage to the amendment, even members of the Democratic caucus realized what a miscarriage of just government was being perpetrated.
I am amazed at the unthinking attitude of this ruling party. Imagine the outrage if the amendment had altered Seattle or King County government, or added members to the Senate or House of Representatives. With this majority, this could happen to any county, any city or any other public entity, late on any Friday night. It reveals deep scorn for voters who deserve a voice. I am rarely this fervent but, then, this is beyond anything I have ever witnessed in Olympia. Although expanding the commission might be a good idea, in the end, there is a constitutional and well-known PUBLIC process to do it and this was not it."

CUT OFF CALENDAR

Cut Off Calendar

This first date is Friday then the 9th then the 17th. After that bills have to be out of the 1st House. If not they are dead. Unless of course someone amends them to a budget bill, or they use one of the special procedures to bring a bill to the floor.

Links

The purpose of this blog is prayer. Some bills will never get a hearing. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the bill. Most other sites deal with the bills once they get a hearing. Most legislators really don't want to hear about bills before this unless they are on the committee that the bill has been assigned to.

Once the bills reach committee there are sites with clearer information on when and to whom you should call/write and when to come to Olympia to appear at a hearing. I am going to try to find an organization for each area.

New session

The new session will be starting very soon. I will be primarily covering new bills, but all bills not passed last session can be brought back at any time. Any that were passed by a committee are still passed, any passed by one house are still passed. I will try to monitor those, but sometimes they are quickly brought to the floor. This happens when they are in rules in the 2nd house.

Also, you may notice the new look, I am trying to make it easier for you to navigate this. I will make a master post for the topics and edit that rather than repost. That way things will be together. I will change the published on date so that you can see when I update the post.  Also, I am not going to break things into topics for you, as  I will follow fewer bills

You can use the Bill Information link to comment on bills.

The biggest prayer need of for HJM 4008. Pray and comment on this one.
